My name is Edison Astudillo and here is a very brief summary of my life. Born in Ecuador, one sister one brother, parents still alive and happily divorced . Trained as a primary school teacher did lots of voluntary work with the Red Cross and other NGO’s trying to decide what to do with my life. In 2000 I moved to the UK, where I worked in a supermarket, taught Spanish to the UK military and spent all my life savings to do full time counselling training. From 2011 I have been travelling to South America, Asia, Africa facilitating training in counselling skills and suicide prevention. As I travel and learn from other cultures, I aim to get rid of my own prejudices, assumptions and misconceptions about the world so I can become a more accepting person and a better practitioner. Throughout the years, while working in the National Health Service (NHS) in the UK and in private practice, I have had the privilege of helping thousands of people from different walks of life, get through the problems they struggle with. Listening to their stories and witnessing them moving forward constantly reminds me that people can improve their lives, and this challenge my own thinking. As I get older, I began to think about the shortness of life. I know that life is not fair and it is also unpredictable. Becoming more aware of the certain of death is both scary and refreshing, and this awareness has transformed my way of working when supporting people. I now use a single session framework where in one 2 hours session we focus on the positive changes you want in your life and how they can be achieved. No more sessions are needed.
What is Single Session Approach and why I offer this to you?
Single Session Approach (SSA) is an empirically based approach (1) designed to be very brief in helping people to resolve psychological and emotional problems in one session. SSA has been used in different countries including Canada, USA, Australia and the UK as meets the demand for a service that is available at the time when the client needs it without requiring a commitment to long term work. You won’t resolve all your problems just because you talk to me once. Instead, our unique conversation is likely to enable you to find your own path and feel motivated to follow it to the end.
How I Work
Because I really want you to succeed, my only condition to accept working with you is this: Whatever your situation is, you need to want to change it badly enough. That’s it.
The Single Session is delivered by phone or online. I prefer telephone sessions as I want flexibility for me and my clients. Telephone is a reliable medium for communication and allows us both to be anywhere in the world and have a meaningful conversation.
My own way of working using SSA is not the typical 50-minutes session, however. Instead, your session will last up to two hours which should give us enough time to work on your issues with no concern about running out of time.
As expected, SSA is not for everyone. You may not like my style of working; or the issue you want to work on may need a different approach. I offer a 20 minutes no-commitment free initial consultation to discuss your best hopes and see if we can work together effectively. Just call me on 0044 (0)7907466711 to book an appointment. I answer all my own calls myself but if line is busy or phone is off please leave a message and I will call you back within 24 hours.
To summarise, this is how it works: 1) You call me on 0044 (0)7907466711 to book your free 20 minutes no-commitment initial consultation 2) I call you on the day and time of your booking 3) During this session we discuss your situation and whether we can work together to resolve your problem 4) If we both agree to go ahead, we schedule a date for your paid session or if you want to think about that that’s OK too.
I charge £270 for my time. This include a one-time 2 hours telephone session and a one hour follow up 2/3 weeks later if required. Payment through PayPal paid in advance.
